Tunes, Brews and Barbeque Create the Perfect Summer Evening at the Backyard BBQ Bash
A Good Time for a Good Cause Benefiting the Central PA Food Bank
Lancaster County’s Mount Hope Estate & Winery will celebrate the height of the summer season with its Backyard BBQ Bash July 3, 10, 17 & 24. Benefitting the Central PA Food Bank, the BBQ Bash will feature a wide variety of toe‐tapping local music, fantastic food, Swashbuckler ales and Mount Hope wines Friday night s in July.

The BBQ Bash will kick off July 3 with Shots McGee opening for headliner The Green Onions. Shots McGee, central Pa’s only Irish and Classic Rock party band, covers the best artists in Classic Rock including Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Sublime and Jimi Hendrix. The Green Onions takes a contemporary approach to the roots of American music creating their own cohesive signature sound. In the words of WTPA’s Chris James, “The Green Onions will blow you away.”

The July 10 concert will feature Lancaster’s own Vinegar Creek Constituency and Slimfit. Vinegar Creek Constituency, in addition to their upbeat bluegrass music, plays rockabilly, classic country and even a few punk rock songs to mix things up. Headliner Slimfit combines fringe country music with a devil‐may‐care attitude that attracts fans of every kind.

Kingsfoil will open the July 17 concert for the headliner the Mark DeRose Band. Kingsfoil is a rock quartet who finds inspiration for their original songs in Coldplay, Ben Folds and Radiohead for their energetic live performances. The Mark DeRose Band blends introspective lyrics with heartfelt acoustic rock influenced by musical legends such as James Taylor and Dave Matthews bringing a distinctive sound that has been challenging listeners and entertaining high‐energy crowds for nearly a decade.

The BBQ Bash will wrap up July 24 with Scott McKenna opening for The Steven Courtney Band. Scott McKenna combines acoustic guitar and dynamic vocals with the outstanding talents of electric violinist Nyke Van Wyk making this duo one of the region’s most exciting young acts. The Steven Courtney Band’s live shows rip out the speakers like a freight train running on the fuel of the Americana roots music movement. This five-piece acoustic band offers up hard won street wisdom with a memorable mix of rollicking tunes delivering a fresh new sound to the Central Pennsylvania Americana roots circuit.

The BBQ Bash would not be complete without a traditional smoked barbeque menu. Available for purchase at Sir William’s Hall will be mouthwatering smoked beef brisket, barbeque ribs, drunken chicken basted with Swashbuckler ales, barbeque chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs as well as scrumptious summer salads featuring savory greens and chicken or seafood roasted on cedar planks in a traditional wood‐fired brick oven.

Complementing the hearty food options are freshly brewed ales from the Swashbuckler Brewery, a micro‐brewery located on the festival grounds. Enjoy handcrafted ales from dark and bold to golden and light. Seeking libations of a different sort? Mount Hope’s award winning wines will be available for purchase by the glass as well as frozen wine cocktails.
