IT’S CHIVALRY & ROMANCE WEEKEND AT THE PENNSYLVANIA RENAISSANCE FAIRE
AUGUST 15 & 16, 2009

WHO:

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire

WHAT:

Chivalry is far from dead, and the Queen has decreed that there shall be a celebration of all things romantic to prove it. Fall in love all over again as the 29th season of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire continues.

WHEN:

Saturday and Sunday, August 15 & 16, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.


WHERE :

The Royal grounds of Mount Hope Estate and Winery, Lancaster County, Rt. 72, ½ mile south of PA Turnpike Exit 266

WHY: So that lords and ladies, rogues and wenches alike may be struck by Cupid’s arrow!


The Faire continues its 12 weekend run complete with 90 stage shows, scores of artisans, 22 Royal
Kitchens, award winning wines sampled daily, widely acclaimed ales and lagers brewed on-site and the
following additional entertainments!

THIS WEEKEND ONLY
Renewal of Love Ceremony – All couples are invited to reaffirm their love and commitment to each other. Men in Tights Competition – A hilarious and competitive “showing” when Looney Lucy and Ploppy deem whose legs are the most worthy in the realm. Wooing Contest – Prove yourself the best catch in all of England by testing your wooing skills beside those of the Shire’s most famous lovers. Knight School for Nippers – All future knights are invited to learn the Code of Honor followed by Elizabethan knights and be knighted by Queen Elizabeth herself! Clan Tynker - This family-friendly act that includes magic, dancing and juggling is sure to enchant young and old alike. Coyote Run – In performances that promise to be both heart-stopping and foot-stomping, Coyote Run engages their listeners with musical storytelling. The Singers Madrigale – This Annapolis ensemble delights audiences of all ages with songs that range from serious to silly.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
All travelers to the Shire on August 15 and 16 have the opportunity to share the love by donating blood to the American Red Cross. By Her Majesty’s Decree, any patron who contributes will gain admission to the festival free of charge.

The ladies of the Shire think so, and Looney Lucy and Ploppy have teamed up to officiate the Men in Tights Competition, a hysterical and fiercely competitive event during Chivalry & Romance weekend, August 15 & 16, at the rollicking Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire in northern Lancaster County.

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire and the American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley team up to host the sixth annual Goodly Samaritan Blood Drive Saturday and Sunday, August 15 & 16. From 9:30a.m. to 3:30p.m., visitors to the Shire are invited in to Mount Hope Mansion to give blood, and any patron who donates receives free admission to the Faire. To avoid having to wait to donate, schedule an appointment at www.givelife.org

Even Queen Elizabeth takes a turn to give blood when the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire partners with the American Red Cross to give the biggest gift of love. By Her Majesty's decree, any visitor who donates during the sixth annual Goodly Samaritan Blood Drive on August 15 and 16 from 9:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. in the Mount Hope Mansion will receive free admission to the Faire on that day. Schedule an appointment ahead of time at www.givelife.org to avoid having to wait to donate.
