The Parade of the Ale on Oktoberfest Weekend

Wk 8 Daily WritPull on your lederhosen, strike up the band, dance a polka and grab an ale at our very own Swashbuckler Brew Pub when Pennsylvania Dutch goes Deutsche at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Raise a glass of ale with a toast to our own Micro-Brewery and enjoy authentic foods at the Die Deutsche Kuche where German tastes reside.

The foods and flavors of Germany come to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Visit the Tent of Red & White adjacent to the Chess Board for:

  • The Lancaster Liederkranz chefs cook up a fantastic bill of fare which should not be missed! Especially the ever-popular Potato Pancakes! These are well worth the wait!!

  • The Swashbuckler Brewery presents its very own Octoberfest Ale and Lil Helmut Smoke Beer (Raucheier beer)!

  • The Mount Hope Cellars present: Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Ice Wine, and Vidal and Seval Blanc!

  1. Don Juan & Miguel (FINAL WEEKEND): Adventurous! Enthralling! Romantic! This fiery trio, Don Juan, the mysterious son of the King and Queen of Spain, his loyal manservant Miguel as well as Esmeralda, the daughter of Don Juan, charm an entire Shire while engaging in the finest sword and whip work ever seen, and humor, even more "cutting."

THE GREAT BAR OLYMPICS!

The stakes are high in this new for 2008 Renaissance Faire Competition! 3 progressive contests throughout the day! Winners go on to the next phase each time!

  • Ode to Ale: Ode to AleImpromptu toasts from the audience make a hilarious event as this contest of wit challenges each contestant to create yet an even more ingenious toast than the last. Hilarity will ensue as will the glorious Mount Hope prizes for the best Ode to Ale! Top 10 contestants compete in the next phase at 3:00.

  • Bar Keep Contest: Show your mettle behind the bar. Can you serve a sturdy ale without spillage? Is your pour too heady? Are your verbal skills as honed as your drinking skills? Put your best barkeep abilities to the test and be judged by Mount Hope's own finest barkeeps. All final contestants will receive wondrous Prizes and accolades with our Grand Prize winner also earning the right to have our very own Wharf Bar named after them...an honour to be held until the 11th Annual Celtic Fling & Highland Games in June of 2009.

"Oktoberfest Marzen"

Hans Hersbrucker, the noblest brewmeister from Bavaria did to inform Her Majesty that he brewed too much lager in March - for he was in his cups. Hans brewed a smooth, mildly sweet, auburn colored lager. Instead of letting this delectable brew sour. Hans has declared that the lagers stored in Sollerect Mountains need to be consumed. Across the channel and tehn by caravan, the Marzen was delivered to the Shire of Mount Hope for all to enjoy.
