Wine & Ale at the Faire

Mount Hope Estate & Winery and the Swashbuckler Brewing Company have come together at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire to provide you with wine & ale beyond compare.

Now in its 28th year, the Faire celebrates its ability to serve the best vintages and best brews. Twenty-eight years ago, ale was nowhere to be found on the Fairegrounds, but in 2000, we "fixed" that problem with the Swashbuckler Brewing Co. Not only could we serve our very own handcrafted ales brewed on the premises but could now sell our own Pennsylvania grown and made Mount Hope Wines by the glass as well.

Many varieties of wine and ale are yours for the choosing. Whether it be white or red wines, mead, or Swashbuckler's Gold or Red Sea Amber ales, there's a taste for everyone.

Wine & Ale Upon the Shire

While you are meandering through the lanes of our 16th century hamlet, know that fine establishments of drynke and refreshment lie nearby.

What's On Tap

Master Brewer Mark Braunwarth will pull out all the stops this season with his fine creations of ale. On tap every day you can expect to find:

  • Swashbuckler Gold - a traditional german style Kolsch Ale that is light in both color and body.

  • Red Sea Amber - a medium bodied amber ale brewed with all English ingredients.

  • Old Peg Leg Stout - a robust, oatmeal stout with flavorful chocolate and coffee accents.

  • NEW Lanner Pilsner - The Royal Falconer, Sir Robert Cary on a hunting trip to the far region of Pilsen, Bohemia, did frequent the Tavern of Urquell and discovered the most unique of all biers - a light colored lager with the soft flavors of Czech Noble hops. This refreshing brew did quench his massive thirst. In honor of his Lanner Falcon, Cassiopea, guiding him to this special region, we give homage.

In addition to these three house ales, a weekly or bi-weekly specialty beer is always offered. Check back soon to see the list of ales that will be offered.
