Q: What is the cost for students and what is the chaperone policy?
A: The cost of Green and Growing is $9.00 per student. One complimentary chaperone will be admitted for every eight students. We request that children younger than Grade 3 not attend, as the day is geared to school students and it is difficult for adults to chaperone the students while tending to toddlers and infants. If it is absolutely necessary that younger children attend, they will be charged the student rate regardless of age.

Q: May I bring extra chaperones?
A: Additional chaperones beyond the 1/8 ratio are permitted and will be charged the students rate of $9.00.

Q: What are the hours of the event and how long should I plan to stay with my students?
A: Green and Growing will operate from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Plan to come early and stay the entire day. The Schedule of Activities covers the entire time span and you will want to spend time with the exhibitors throughout the events site, so it is beneficial to spend the entire day and experience as much as possible.

Q: How do I pay the invoice for our trip?
A: For groups of fewer than 20 students, payment is required in advance of your trip. A confirmation/invoice will be mailed to you with a written confirmation. For groups of over 20, payment can be made the day of your trip at the Registration Table upon your arrival. The bus greeters will direct the registering teacher to the Registration Table. Payment is requested by one check made payable to: The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Group size must be 10 or more students to be considered for the Green and Growing Day.

Q: Will we receive admission tickets?
A: When your group arrives, the registered educator will be directed to the Registration Table where he/she will make their payment and receive Admission Wristbands for the group. The Admission Wristbands are tickets and no one will be admitted to the grounds without wearing a Green and Growing provided wristband for the safety of everyone attending. We do offer a pre-payment option for groups who can pay in full no later than 10 days prior to their visit. Pre-paid groups will receive their Admission Wristbands in the mail prior to their visit. Details regarding the pre-payment option are available in the Study Guide.

Q: Are home school groups eligible to attend School Days at the Faire?
A: Yes, provided your group meets the minimum group size of 10 or more students. The chaperone policy does apply and additional chaperones will be charged the student rate. We request that students younger than Grade 3 not attend, as the days are geared to school students and it is difficult for adults to chaperone the students while tending to toddlers and infants. If it is absolutely necessary that younger children attend the School Day, they will be charged the student rate regardless of age.

Q: Must students remain with chaperones?
A: Because the Green and Growing School Day is open to students of varying age groups, it is mandatory that all students remain in a chaperoned group throughout the day.

Q: Is there a set schedule to follow for the day?
A: The on-line Study Guide provides a Schedule of Activities, in addition to a great deal of other information. We suggest educators preview this schedule and loosely plan the day for their students leaving some “free time” for village exploration, lunch, souvenirs, etc. Planning in advance will alleviate wandering and focus their attention on the available activities.

Q: In the event of rain, will the event be held?
A: Green and Growing is a rain or shine event and scheduled events will take place to the best of everyone’s ability. We do ask that students dress for the weather, as the event is outdoors.

Q: Are there medical facilities available?
A: Yes. We have a fully staffed Fyrst Aide station with licensed EMT personnel available for any emergency. The nearest hospital is located six miles north of the Faire in Lebanon and is called the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Q: Can my students bring their lunches?
A: Yes. Although we have many food kitchens to choose from throughout the site, we allow students to pack their lunches. Schools can store their lunches in large boxes or bags in the Lunch Storage Tent with prior notice by filling out the Lunch Form from the Study Guide and returning to the Green and Growing offices one week prior to the field trip date.

Q: Should students bring extra money?
A: The site holds hundreds of merchants, artisans and food vendors. These shops are independently owned businesses operated by the individual craft and food merchants. If students wish to purchase crafts, food or souvenirs, play games or ride rides, they should bring spending money. Because the event provides an extensive schedule filled with performances and packed lunches are permitted, additional money is not a necessity, as there is plenty to see and do without additional cost. The decision to bring spending money and the amount is solely up to the individual student.

Q: How do I access the on-line Study Guide?
A: Registered educators will be emailed several pieces of information including a confirmation/invoice, and a letter providing step-by-step instructions to access and print the on-line Study Guide. This information will be emailed weeks in advance of the May 2nd event.
