The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire opens its castle gates to tens of thousands of students every year. Through educational entertainment students travel back to a 16th century English country faire and become immersed in the Elizabethan world of language arts, humanities, world cultures, music, history, art, and theater.

Living History

Gain knowledge of medieval armour from knights of old, witness the ancient sport of falconry, cheer your champion at the Human Chess Match and Tournament Jousts. Encounter nobles and peasants from the pages of history books while exploring the Shire of Mount Hope, our very own Elizabethan English Village.

Performing Arts

Whether participating in the merriement of period song or dance, or accepting a cameo role with a wandering troupe of Commedia players, students express their own creativity both on stage and throughout their encounters with 16th century villagers, all within the confines of a 35-acre Tudor village in a safe, secure and orderly learning environment.

Renaissance Guildsmen

Merchants and craftsmen demonstrate their ancient crafts including a blacksmith, glassblower, bee keeper, clothier, leather smith, bowyer, potter, herbalist, and many more.

English Literature

Two 45-minute works - "The Tempest" and "Merry Wives of Windsor" bring the words of Shakespere to life.

Spirited Competitions

Students participate in competitions and participatory events designed to provide hands-on learning in a fun, yet competitive setting. Guidelines provided in the extensive online Study Guide will soon be available to all attending educators.
